Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tech Lead (Fullstack) to join the Almond Fintech Engineering team. As a Tech Lead, you will work remotely and play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling our user-facing web applications that power global financial experiences. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, lead engineers by example, and ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.

This role is ideal for someone with deep fullstack engineering expertise, proven experience in building scalable web platforms, and strong architectural skills. A fintech or product-focused background is highly valuable. You must reside in the APAC time zone for effective collaboration across global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of the Frontend and supporting backend services.
• Partner with Product Managers and Designers to scope, refine, and deliver new user-facing features.
• Ensure clean, responsive, and intuitive UI/UX for end users.
• Design and maintain APIs for integration between frontend, backend, and external services.
• Own and scale systems built on Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and AWS managed services
• Oversee technical documentation and ensure API-first, component-driven design practices.
• Champion engineering best practices: clean code, peer reviews, automated testing, CI/CD.
• Drive frontend-backend alignment to ensure high performance, reliability, and security.
• Support production troubleshooting, incident resolution, and continuous optimization.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation across the team.
• Drive a culture of continuous learning, quality, and innovation within a global remote team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or architect role.
  
• Strong expertise in both frontend and backend development, including:
  
  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, modern UI frameworks & component libraries.
    
  • Backend: Java (Spring Boot), Node.js (or similar), REST APIs.
    
  • Databases: MySQL/PostgreSQL, schema migration tools (Liquibase).
    
  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS (S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, EKS).
    
  • Microservices, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.
    
• Solid understanding of:
  
  • UI/UX best practices and responsive design principles.
  • Authentication and authorization flows (frontend ↔ backend), including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and session/token-based strategies.
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end).
  • Secure, scalable design patterns.
• Proven experience building secure user-facing applications with role-based access control (RBAC) and fine-grained permission models.
• Ability to leverage AI assistants to accelerate development, improve test coverage, and automate workflows.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, product-oriented mindset.

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with feature flagging, progressive delivery, or config-driven deployments.
• Exposure to blockchain/crypto technologies.
• Experience with mobile-friendly web app development (React Native or similar)
• Background in building consumer-facing fintech products.

Salary Range:

45k-75k USD per  year (Total Comp/Package).
