Role Summary

We’re looking for a hands-on, business-first JD-qualified lawyer to help us build and scale a fast-growing fintech operating at the intersection of payments and crypto. This is not a “check-the-box” legal role — you’ll be embedded with product, engineering, and operations, helping us move fast without breaking things (or regulations).

You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, staying current in fast-changing regulatory environments, and giving pragmatic advice on cross-border money movement, digital assets, and financial products.

Responsibilities

• Be the go-to legal partner for product, engineering, compliance, and leadership—embedded in day-to-day decision making.
• Help structure and review products involving money transmission, stored value, FX, and settlement.
• Advise on U.S. and global securities and issues across tokenized assets.
• Lead legal strategy on crypto and digital assets, including custody, transfers, staking, stablecoins, and regulatory classification.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (vendors, banks, payment partners, APIs, custodians, etc.)
• Support regulatory exams, audits, and inquiries as needed.
• Work closely with compliance to design scalable, practical controls that align with business goals.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and licensed (or license-eligible) to practice law.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in fintech, financial services, crypto, or a top law firm with strong regulatory exposure.
• Up-to-date knowledge of securities law, especially as it applies to fintech and digital assets.
• Strong understanding of crypto regulatory frameworks (U.S. and global) and how they apply in practice.
• Experience with or deep familiarity with cross-border money transfers, payments, or FX
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity startup environment
• Business-minded, pragmatic, and willing to roll up sleeves
• Excellent judgment, communication skills, and ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.

• Experience working directly with regulators
• Familiarity with non-U.S. regimes (EU, UK, APAC, LATAM)
• Background in payments, banking-as-a-service, or crypto infrastructure
• Startup or high-growth company experience

Compensation Range

Base Salary: 72,000-100,000 GBP per year (offered salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and commensurate experience)

Bonus: Discretionary (dependant on company and personal performance)

Equity: Stock Options (equity grant will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and commensurate experience)
