Role Summary

We are seeking a Quantitative Forex Analyst to support the development of core products for Almond FinTech. This includes developing forex trading strategies and blockchain routing optimization algorithms to improve cross-border payment performance for our institutional clients.

The result of your work will directly impact our existing products and clients, while also paving the way for future product releases. The role involves working within our existing data science team, with close collaboration across several departments, including engineering, product, sales, finance and management. Additional areas of cross-departmental collaboration include data-driven pricing strategy and geographic expansion analysis.

A high degree of autonomy is expected. The ideal candidate can understand the key objectives, devise tasks and experiments, carry out the work, ask for help if needed, and deliver an end-to-end project. You are also expected to be excellent at communicating with data, including presenting key insights to various internal and external stakeholders with varying degrees of technical expertise.

Responsibilities

Primary

• Develop, test and maintain the forex trading strategy for the company, to improve the effective forex rates for our clients and identify new sources of revenue
• Develop algorithmic improvements to our primary digital asset-based cross-border settlement product. Work with development teams to implement changes, test and track progress
• Analyze opportunities for geographic market expansion based on price premium evaluation between various currencies. Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Secondary

• Work with the finance team to develop and test the pricing strategy for various products
• Work with management to extract insights from data and prepare demos and visualizations for clients

Requirements

Functional

• At least 5 years of experience in a related role in Data Science, Quantitative Research/Trading or similar, ideally in a financial institution, hedge fund or trading firm
• Hands-on expertise with forex market dynamics
• Solid understanding of how FX markets operate, including currency pair conventions, how rates are quoted, and how liquidity is distributed across major and emerging market pairs
• Proven track record of identifying market microstructure patterns and acting on them
• Excellent communication skills, especially when communicating with data
• Ability to draw actionable insights from complex data
• Ability to explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Nice to have: Experience with blockchain technology and digital asset trading

Technical

• Fluency in Python and tools such as scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, polars
• Comfortable working with raw data and able to separate signals from noise
• Ability to incorporate raw data from APIs
• SQL for analysis and visualization
• Ability to visualize distributions, time-series behavior, and anomalies in execution (slippage, spreads, latency effects) and clearly communicate insights
• Solid statistical foundation, ranging from linear regressions to autoregressive models
• Experience in backtesting and hypothesis testing
• Experience with AI tools for data science and visualization
• Nice to have: Data engineering experience, especially with Databricks, dbt, modern ML stack, Delta Lake, ETL, Spark

Compensation Range

Base Salary: $90,000–$120,000 USD per year
